The Ghost Breakers | Bob Hope, Paulette Goddard

Very funny comedy with Bob Hope and Paulette Goddard (The Great Dictator).  Mary Carter (Paulette Goddard) inherits her family’s ancestral home, located on a small island off Cuba, and, despite warnings and death threats, decides to take possession of the ‘haunted’ castle. She is joined by radio broadcaster Larry Lawrence (Bob Hope) who is fleeing New York with his butler, Alex. Once on the island the threesome enter the eerie castle ...

The Seven Little Foys, starring Bob Hope, James Cagney, Jerry Mathers

Movie review of ‘The Seven Little Foys’, starring Bob Hope as Eddie Foy, the star of vaudeville who has been absent from his children’s lives ... until his wife dies, and he’s now forced to be a real ‘father’ in every sense of that word ... and how Eddie and his children develop mutual love for each other, and how he struggles to work them into his act.  A wonderful film, very funny and very touching, often at the same time.

Fancy Pants, starring Bob Hope and Lucille Ball

movie review of Fancy Pants, where Bob Hope plays an American actor in London, playing the role of an English butler (whew!), who is brought to America to serve as butler to an American tomboy in the Wild West, played by Lucille Ball - two of the funniest people on the silver screen together, who made a funny movie together

Son of Paleface | starring Bob Hope, Jane Russell, Roy Rogers

Movie review of ‘Son of Paleface’ - Bob Hope’s sequel to ‘Paleface’, again co-starring Jane Russell - as the son of the original Paleface, doing a screwball comedy set in the old American West - vintage Bob Hope, and that’s saying quite a bit.  A very funny movie, and well worth watching.

My Favorite Brunette - starring Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour, Peter Lorre, Lon Chaney jr.

Movie review of one of Bob Hope’s finest solo comedies, ‘My Favorite Brunette’, where he plays a baby photographer who longs to be a private eye - and is inadvertently given the opportunity when a beautiful brunette (Dorothy Lamour) mistakes him for one, leading him into a web of danger, deceit and murder with spies (including Peter Lorre in a delicious performance) - a very good, funny romantic movie, of that type that sadly isn’t made any more.

The Paleface | Bob Hope, Jane Russell

Movie review of ‘The Paleface’ - a very funny movie set in the old American West, where a dentist from the East (played wonderfully by Bob Hope) goes out west, where he meets outlaw-turned-lawman Jane Russell, who uses him as her cover while she looks for gun runners.  Bob Hope is at his best at the cowardly lady chaser, who has wonderful screen chemistry with the beautiful Jane Russell.
