hey davebo48,
I caught that too...
With Jimmy he is sooooo "dog" gone
good (I mean the pun with dog NOT gone)
that his terse verse with
..."and now he's dead" and the pause
shows how great a poet he is
he knows people know HIM and he
gives juuuuuuust a bit of humor
and yet draws them back in with
his overwhelming sadness in his
loss for his dog named bo
truly a classic.

I Love this poem, Jimmy Stewart is one of my favorit poets. And Johnny Carson I love his show. There just isn't a late night show as good as Johnny Carson's. He's the master of the late night show.

Not his fault you're a heartless piece of meat.

Yes, he did. I saw a special on PBS about Jimmy Stewart, Johnny Carson narrated it & interviewed him, and they showed a clip of Jimmy reading the Junin poem on Johnny's show. I just can't find that clip anywhere.

Off the top, no. Do you recall if he ever did it on Carson?

I love Jimmy. Any chance you know where I can find a clip of his poem about the Junin Hotel step?

The one and only Jimmy (James) Stewart ... There aren't actors around like that anymore. Same goes for Johnny Carson ... class act ... Never got political with his shows. Thank God! |
