Not only Johnny laughing, but he had Hope and Martin cracking up too. The brown shoes joke was perfect and it floored all 3 of them.

nixthetiger, It wasn't just his jokes but also the TIMING.. expertly displayed here... George's pauses were priceless! And again, Johnny's laugh here was genuine in my opinion.

These were great days for American TV and George's "Brown Shoes" comment is just flat out great comedy... but what's even more priceless is how Johnny laughed. Folks that really rmbr the Tonight Show know how Johnny laughed at everything but VERY FEW times did he genuinely laugh... and this was one of those times. Just my opinion :)

Was Gobel one of the most underrated comics in history, or what? The "Brown shoes" line is brilliant. Every time I ever saw George Gobel, he made me roll on the floor. Ane I think having Dino next to him (and Hop, too) added to his energy...wow, man.

Hard to believe all 4 are gone. Gobel passed in '91, Martin in '95, Hope in '03 and Johnny in '05.
