BOB HOPE - CALL ME BWANA

During his long career in the Comedy Big Leagues, Bob Hope got to work with many glamourous Leading Ladies. Here is an obscure song from one of his many fims (or should I say pictures?), as the perfect backdrop to a photo montage featuring everyone from Phyllis Diller to Jayne Mansfield, all at the side of Mr. One-Liner himself. Enjoy, and please take a moment to rate and comment.

I never saw the film, but I can imagine how much fun it must have been. The song would be the "file out to exit" music. The next bunch of theater goers would be ready to get in, seeing the smiling faces and hearing the tune in the back ground. Always look for the reaction of those who've just seen a film. If they look disappointed, you probably will be too! It reminds me of the film "Gremlins" (ca. 1984), with the "Gremlin Rag" playing at the end. Like you said: Just plain fun!

I remember this in the end credits to "Call Me Bwana" and always got a kick out of the little ditty....just plain fun. Thanks

I'm glad you like this song, it really is a winner! Sadly the movie was released just about at the same time JFK was assassinated, so the country (and the world) wasn't in a great mood to enjoy a comedy. Producers decided to quickly delete a scene where an "native" extra mistook the Bob Hope character for Kennedy, as it now was considered in poor taste. All of the above aside, this is a fantastic theme song for a great Bob Hope Comedy. I became aware of the song (and film) only recently.

I love this song. I found a tape on a music tree in an obscure market during a road trip a few years ago and I played this song to death. It's such a perfect example of how much more sweet and innocent America was in Bob Hope's heyday. Thanks for posting it. Great job with the pictures!
