Spiritual Warfare For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God... Biblical References: 2 Corinthians 10 : 3-5 Ephesians 6 : 10-18 1 Peter 5 : 8 James 4 : 7 Revelation 12 : 7-12 The Objectives of Spiritual Warfare: 1. to pull down strongholds 2. to cast down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God 3. to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ [3. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh 4. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5. casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10 : 3-5] The Enemy: an unseen, formidable, relentless, and well organized "spiritual army of darkness" (hellbent on hindering God's plan on earth and striking the very heart of God, the dearest of His creation: humankind, thru deception and murder) 1. satan/lucifer, the fallen angel: the leader of this "dark army". 2. the principalities 3. the powers 4. the rulers of the darkness of this age 5. the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places Our Weapons: (Illustrated by the Apostle Paul as a Typical, 1st century, Roman Soldier's Weaponry) The Belt of Truth The Breastplate of Righteousness The Sandals of the Gospel of Peace The Shield of Faith The Helmet of Salvation The Sword of the Spirit (The Word of God) Prayer and Supplication in the Spirit [10. Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might 11. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil 12. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places 13. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand 14. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15. and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16. above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one 17. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18. praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. Ephesians 6 : 10-18] The Stake: the stake is high: billions of human souls. the enemy is fierce, evil, heartless, and determined, thus not to be taken lightly. deceiving and devouring as many humans as possible is their wicked goal. [8. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8] The Promise of Victory: (obtainable thru 4 things) 1. submission to God 2. resistance against satan 3. the blood of the Lamb and 4. the word of our testimony [7. Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7] [11. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony... Revelation 12 : 11] The Battlefied: 1. in the heavenlies 2. in the air 3. on this earth 4. within the realms of our souls and hearts. The Beginning: it all started in heaven [Satan Thrown Out of Heaven 7. And war broke out in heaven: Michael (the waring archangel) and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought 8. but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer 9. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him 10. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down 11. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death 12. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time."
