Haunting, yes, also life changing, melancholy, lonely, music that could herald the end of the world.

Yes his music is haunting. I think he was haunted too by the sounds and lives of people like Charlie Patton and John Hurt. I learned to play guitar copying him in the 70s. I saw him play in Greenwhich Village once. He had a bag full of 7-ups (It was the middle of a summer heat wave). I tried to buy one from him and he refused the money and gave me one. There was no booze in the bag - just soda. His performance was inspiring. I still play his stuff sometimes. He started a new guitar trend.

Ladies & Gentlemen...the incredible John Fahey. I swear he can talk to his fingers and those fingers can talk to those strings. Fahey's music will forever haunt me and i don't think i am alone in that feeling, it just has that effect.

Pretty cool. Do you have anything else on Laura Weber? I learned guitar in the late sixties watching Laura's guitar lessons at one time. This really bring back memories. |
